Xinmiao Zhao (Miao) is actively involved in our community to help improving it by doing one small thing at a time.
She received PhD in physics and worked at Los Alamos National Lab as a research scientist before joining the semiconductor industry following her husband’s footprints. After working for more than 20 years at Cirrus Logic she decided to spend more time with her family and choose to be a stay-at-home mom.
Currently she is actively involved with the Westlake High School (WHS) band and is its Treasure Elect. She is a member of the Guidance Committee at WHS, a member of the National Charity League with her daughter, a volunteer safe driver instructor at AARP and a member of Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN), where she is a director of the board.
As a board member of ACAN Miao serves multiple roles. Besides helping organizing events and volunteering at different activities she edits and publishes a community weekly. This weekly reports many community services and cultural events the organization sponsors.
ACAN, a local nonprofit organization, with a mission: ”Foster our heritage, service our community” is becoming a household name. They played an important role in the greater Austin community during the pandemic. They donated resources and provided services, including providing food, to the less fortunate. Their effort won multiple recognition awards from Austin City, Texas State Congress and other organizations.
Miao,her husbandCaiyi and their daughter Faylyn, a junior at WHS, live in the Westlake community. Their older daughter Eileen is a WHS graduate and earned an engineering degree from UC Berkeley. She currently works for Google in Seattle.
