Kari Ness Riedel is a social entrepreneur working to ignite and sustain a lifelong love of reading in all young people. She created Bookopolis, an online community where kids can share book reviews and recommendations with classmates, after realizing her own sons were more likely to listen to book suggestions from their friends than their mom. She runs afterschool book clubs for elementary and middle school students. She has a BA in Finance from the College of William and Mary and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern. She has served as a strategy consultant at Monitor Group, a brand manager at Nestlé, and a marketing director for Challenge Success, a school reform nonprofit. She and her husband, Lance, live in the Westlake community and have two boys - Beck is a sophomore at WHS and Gabe is a graduate of WHS and a freshman at Cal Poly University.
